WhatsApp testing Community group chat event duration feature on Android

Image
WhatsApp introduced the Events feature for Communities in May and started rolling it for group chats for beta users on Android in June. Later, WhatsApp began testing Community announcement group events on its beta app for Android, and now, it's working on the Community group chat event duration feature. This revelation comes from WABetaInfo, who said WhatsApp has started testing the Community group chat event duration feature on WhatsApp for Android's beta version 2.24.17.11. With this feature, community group members will be able to create events with specific start and end times while also adding a location and a WhatsApp call link to them. This feature should be helpful in Communities where multiple events need to be scheduled. It's unclear when WhatsApp will roll it for all users worldwide, but if you are an Android user and can't wait for the public rollout, you can sign up for the beta program to give it a try. Sekiro- Shadows Die Twice

Image
Padaki Gamer! Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice  is a 2019 action-adventure game developed by FromSoftware. It was released in Japan by FromSoftware and internationally by Activision for the PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One in March 2019 and for Stadia in October 2020. Players control Wolf, a shinobi who embarks on a quest to rescue his lord, and becomes embroiled into a conflict for Ashina's fate. The gameplay is focused on stealth, exploration, and combat, with a particular emphasis on boss battles. It takes place in a fictionalized Japan during the Sengoku period and makes strong references to Buddhist mythology and philosophy. Lead director Hidetaka Miyazaki wanted to create a new intellectual property (IP) that marked a departure from their Dark Souls series, wanting to make a Japanese-themed game around shinobi and ninja. Tenchu, as an IP tied to FromSoftware and with that history theme, ended up being the impetus for the project. Sekiro received acclaim from critics...

WhatsApp's Community-exclusive Events feature is now available for group chats

Image
Last month, WhatsApp announced a feature called Events for the Communities and said that it would be rolled out for groups that are not a part of any community "over the coming months." While WhatsApp hasn't revealed when exactly this feature will be available worldwide for all group chats, it's already available for some users on WhatsApp for Android's beta version 2.24.14.9. This revelation comes from WABetaInfo, who shared a screenshot (included below) showing the Events feature available for regular group chats as well that are not associated with any community. Clicking on the paperclip icon in the group chat now presents an additional "Event" icon that lets you create a new event. Once created, members of the group can view and accept the event invite, while the modifications to the event can expectedly be made only by the creator of that event. It's also worth mentioning that group events are end-to-end encrypted. If you are an Android user an...

New Ways to Organize Events in WhatsApp Communities

Image
Today WhatsApp is introducing a new way to organize events. It should thus be easier to plan get togethers directly in WhatsApp, without the need for separate apps, regardless of whether you're setting up a virtual meeting or birthday dinner or whatever else. Anyone can create an event that others can respond to in a group chat, so that the entire group knows who's coming and who isn't. Events will also be listed in each group's information page, and those who are going will get a notification when the event is getting close. Events are rolling out to groups that belong to a Community first, and will land in all groups "over the coming months". WhatsApp is also adding the ability for you to reply to announcements from admins in Communities. These replies will be grouped together and minimized, allowing you to see what others have said in context. Notifications for such replies are muted for everyone, so as to not turn into a huge annoyance. Subscribe to More

YouTube Premium subscribers get a sleep timer

Image
Ever find yourself falling asleep to a YouTube video only to wake up hours later with your history filled with auto-playing next video after auto-playing next video? Well, in that case you probably need a sleep timer, and luckily YouTube is now offering just after that, well, a set period of time. It’s not an earth-shattering feature, but it’s still bound to be handy for people who like to go to sleep with long podcasts or white noise playing in the background. But it's limited to YouTube Premium subscribers. And it's an experimental test feature. And, perhaps most annoyingly, the test is only running until September 2. After that, the feature might make it into YouTube per se, shedding its experimental training wheels, or it could disappear forever, there's absolutely no telling at this point. If you subscribe to Premium and want to test the sleep timer out, head on over to this page and enable it. Once you do that, when you open YouTube on your phone or desktop you can n...

7 AI features you must try in Windows 11: Copilot PC not required

Image
The global PC market has seen a strong start in 2024, with shipments already higher compared to last year. The hype around AI PCs seems to be one of the big driving forces for this uptick, and it’s only projected to get stronger. Microsoft’s introduction of its AI assistant Copilot and the flurry of new Copilot and Copilot+ laptops this year has rekindled the spark in Windows laptops. AI features are the main draw here and just like the smartphone world, you can now do things like have AI generate a professional painting or drawing, easily separate your subject and the background or add an aesthetic blur behind your subject, and plenty more. A lot of these AI features work best with newer hardware, especially CPUs that have a dedicated NPU chip for handling all this work. While some are exclusive to the newer Copilot+ laptops or laptops that have an NPU, there are some pretty useful ones that work just fine on existing Windows 11 laptops. If you have a Windows 11 PC, these are some of ...
